Willen Lake is Milton Keynes’ most popular park, and this is no surprise when you consider how much there is to do there, all year round!
If you’re planning to head to the lake for the day out with your family we have some top ideas for you …
So you’ve arrived at the lake nice and early, ready for the day ahead – where should you start?! Park in the North car park at Willen Lake South, and then walk along the lakefront towards Treetop Extreme. Stop off at the dedicated platforms on the way and feed the many ducks and wild waterfowl there; (top tip: remember to bring seed mixes, tinned sweetcorn, defrosted peas or berries rather than bread as bread is bad for them and they struggle to digest it).
How about then taking on your first challenge of the day and heading up high at Treetop Extreme! This is suitable for all children over the age of six, and with three courses to try there is an option for everyone. If you or your family isn’t great with heights, you could instead walk down to our wakeboarding centre and try out kneeboarding – all equipment provided.
After swinging in the trees or zipping around the water you’ll have worked up quite an appetite. There are lots of open, grassed areas to enjoy a picnic, or even a BBQ in our designated sites. There is also a café and pub on site. Why not relax here with a book, or if you’d prefer, play a ball game or frisbee together?
The day might be drawing to a close but there’s still lots more you can do. Take your children to our fantastic outdoor play area, which covers 3,500 m², or walk around the lake and have a go on our trim and natural play trails. All of this is free to use.
Finish off the day with an ice cream, before you all head home for some rest! This is just a taster of the many varied activities that can be enjoyed at Willen Lake– you are sure to find something for all ages and interests. We look forward to welcoming you to Willen Lake.
