Join us on Friday 16 August between 10am – 3pm, as we transform Willen Lake into the seaside for the day at our fun filled family day – Seaside in the City!

Willen Lake together with The Parks Trust will host this free event where children and grown-ups alike can enjoy all things seaside. For one day only, you’ll find a giant sandpit, a fantastic funfair and a traditional Punch and Judy puppet show plus lots more free activities, all at Willen Lake.

Bring along your bucket and spade and play in our giant sandpit, its open all day so plenty of sandcastles can be built. Splash ‘n’ Play in our outdoor splash park with over 60 interactive features, it’ll be open all day and especially for Seaside in the City we’ll be offering 2-4-1 sessions.

On the lawn overlooking the lake you’ll find all the fun of the fair as we are joined by John Scarrott and Sons funfair (fair entry is free; ride prices will vary). Here you’ll also be able to find free face-painting and our rangers who’ll be organising plenty of lawn games and activities to have a go at.

Come to Seaside in the City dressed as your favourite underwater character and watch seaside favourites Punch and Judy who will be making an appearance with their traditional family friendly puppet show – one not to miss.

On top of all this we’re offering free kneeboarding sessions which are great for slightly older children, free dragon boat rides out on the lake, free sessions on our powerfan - a 13-metre high free fall simulator at Treetop Extreme. And If you fancy taking out a pedalo you can choose from either a pink flamingo, dragon or a car and at Seaside in the City you’ll get 50% off the hire price (10am to 12noon).

Please note that all available sessions are on a first come, first served basis and there are height and age restrictions on some activities – please check before signing up on the day. Parking is available at Willen Lake, off V10 Brickhill Street. Please be aware that parking charges apply.

      Howe Park Wood - park.jpg

Howe Park is probably the woodland mentioned in the Domesday Survey of 1086. Parts of it may be rare surviving fragments of the 'wildwood' that covered the whole of lowland Britain after the last Ice Age, 6-11,000 years ago.

      Refreshments
There is a café at Howe Park Wood serving cakes, drinks and cold foods.
