Paddle Start Award (Kayaking)
Gaining the Paddle Start Award in Kayaking is the ideal next step after trying the sport in a Discover Kayaking session.
The Paddle Start Award is a one day course (run over a three-hour session) with one of our qualified instructors.
The course covers the following content:
- Launching and recovering the kayak aided and unaided
- Forward paddling and moving backwards and sideways
- Turning and controlling the kayak
- Self-rescues
- Journey planning
Upon successful completion you will receive a Paddle Start Award issued by British Canoeing. This is required for supervised sessions and clubs including our Junior Paddlesports Club.
The course costs £60 and participants must be aged 8+.
