The ideal next step after trying the sport in a Discover session, the Paddle Start Award is a one-day course (3-hour session) led by one of our qualified instructors. This course includes both kayaking and paddleboarding, allowing you to develop your skills in both crafts.
The course covers:
- Launching and recovering your kayak and paddleboard
- Forward paddling, moving backwards and sideways
- Turning and controlling your craft
- Self-rescues
- Basic journey planning
Upon successful completion you will receive a Paddle Start Award issued by British Canoeing. The course costs £65 and participants must be aged 8+.
