RYA Youth Activity Weeks

We have a range of activity weeks suitable for 8 years plus.

All RYA (Royal Yachting Association) activity weeks work towards recognised qualifications and give participants a knowledge of the basic principles of sailsports encouraging the continuation of, and development of skills within, the sport. All weeks offer practical and theory-based sessions, intertwined with games and alternative teaching methods, to maximize participation and enjoyment.

RYA Youth Sailing Stage 1

Looking to learn a new sport and get out on the water? This five-day sailing course is designed to give participants an introduction and basic understanding of boat controls and sailing theory. All our courses are built around learning by doing - combining games, challenges and interactive theory sessions - to give the best possible insight into the world of sailing. On successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded certification from the RYA, the UK’s national sailing body.

No previous experience is required for this course.

RYA Youth Sailing Stage 2

A follow-on course from Stage 1, this course allows participants to develop steering ability, rope skills and simple sail controls. Over the five days, a variety of different sessions will take place, each designed to practice a certain area in a way that ensures the course is constantly engaging and positively encouraging participants.

Participants must have successfully completed RYA Youth Sailing Stage 1 to book this course.

RYA Youth Sailing Stage 3 & 4

A course aimed at sailors with a good knowledge and competence (and a stage 2 certificate) looking to further hone skills whilst gaining a better understanding of the dynamics of a dinghy. Spanning five days, young sailors will work towards more independence in a boat, ingraining safe operation and technical skills key for a future in sailing. Rigging, launching, recovery and proper capsize techniques are just a few of the areas covered that make this course the perfect step into fully engaging in the small dinghy sailing world.

RYA Youth Windsurfing Stage 1

Want to try one of the most independent and rewarding water sports? Over five days, participants will learn tacking and gybing out on the water whilst gaining a better understanding of wind and weather in both practical and theory-based sessions. This is a sport for everyone and is an exhilarating way to travel across the water. All our courses are built around learning by doing - combining games, challenges and interactive theory sessions - to give the best possible insight into the world of windsurfing. At the end of the course all students will be awarded certification from the RYA, the UK’s national sailing body.
